How it all began
The House Group started with Andy Coleman and Terry Power shooting the breeze, talking about small ideas and big dreams! Like most great plans, it didn’t have a destination, it was in fact all about the journey.
Andy and Terry opened The Cork House in October 2010, with Andy managing it for two years and without a day off during its first 18 months! The Cork House offers a traditional environment with welcoming staff, exquisite food and wine to pair.
At the same time, Andy launched Bar House Events, his mobile bar business serving a range of business and private clients the luxury of full bar service for their celebrations.
In 2014, the next opportunity was to take on a bar in Great Dunmow requiring a 3-month build to create a diamond from a rock and launching The Flitch House and Flitch Coffee. Keeping Great Dunmow caffeinated and topped up with cake during the day and becoming a lively venue at night for music, tapas and cocktails.
Two years later, The House Group added a multimedia company to its ever-growing portfolio. Capture House was founded through Andy's desire to support a young creative Jordan Bright in realising his dream. The business has grown from strength to strength in its first three years, successfully working for some of Britains biggest brands such as Unilever, Red Bull & Cadbury. Andy's business expertise provides guidance for Jordan and his team and they're excited to see what Capture House can achieve!
In 2018, another opportunity arose, this time in Saffron Walden. Again, requiring a 3-month renovation to completely transform a rundown establishment into our stylish wine and tapas bar, The Market House. Just like our other venues, the design and building work was completed by Andy, along with a team of local tradesman and The House Group staff. The Market House offers that extra something special in the vibrant town of Saffron Walden.

The Founder of The House Group, Andy Coleman, is dedicated to creating and developing new businesses into profitable companies which bring happiness to clients and employees all under The House Group roof. Andy's passion, drive and determination shines through in everything he does and his authenticity, good nature and grounded approach has enabled him to bring his staff along with him on The House Group journey.
It is not only his own businesses that Andy is passionate about, he has a strong desire to support other people's dreams and help them achieve their goals through mentorship, guidance, advice and support. Most recently, Andy has been mentoring DJ Paul Hutchinson as he pursues his dream of building his brand, Mi Casa Es Tu Casa. Andy has owned eight businesses during his 14 years of entrepreneurship and shows no signs of slowing down yet! As well as his business success, Andy and his partner Hayley have three children, ensuring life at home is just as fun and busy. They recently finished building their own family home which is a haven for Andy when he manages to take a break from work. His attitude to life is that no rewards are without risks and he is committed to building on his successes.

Our success in delivering The Unicorn Effect is best demonstrated through the awards The House Group has been nominated for and won over the last few years from Andy winning Business Person of the Year in 2018, The Market House nominated for Best New Business, The Flitch House nominated for Best Medium-Sized Business, The House Group for Employer of the Year and The House Group winning Best Medium-Sized Business in 2019 in Uttlesford District.
Social Responsibility
Across all the businesses in The House Group, we raise thousands of pounds for our chosen charities each year and support individual staff with their own money-raising challenges!
This year we have hosted our first charity 5-a-side football tournament, have sponsored, taken part in and won the Great Dunmow Soapbox Race, produced media for a number of charities and host monthly charity quizzes at all three venues.
The House Group also sponsor local events and sports clubs in each area we operate.
